Overview

The role will aid the design and delivery a quality oversight model for all third-party activities in conjunction with others within the Q&C function and wider procurement and TPM team. The role will assist in the measurement, qualification and setting of specific goals & improvement plans for each supplier / third party manufacturer.

Reporting to the Senior Supplier & TPM Quality Manager the successful candidate will ensure that the quality of the materials purchased & products manufactured on behalf of Tirlán meet the legislative and regulatory standards as well as our internal customers in the case of suppliers and customer expectations for the out sourced products in question.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Qualify & approve suppliers/third party manufacturers (TPMs) prior to use in accordance with Tirlán food safety & quality requirements and GFSI requirements
  • Assess compliance of systems, facilities, and procedures per applicable regulations through documentation review, food safety assessments & on-site audit. Assuring compliance to regulatory requirements and company specifications;
  • Provide feedback in the form of audit observations; review corrective actions to confirm actions and commitments have been properly implemented, proven to be effective and are being maintained at the supplier service level;
  • Plan & execute risk-based supplier assessments and audit programmes through Safefood 360 our Supplier Management Platform
  • Contribute on behalf of quality operations & systems for innovation projects developed with TPMs.  Participate in new product launches;
  • Act as Tirlán quality contact with retailers where applicable for products which are supplied via a TPM;
  • Maintain all quality related documentation in a structured & organized fashion that is available to the business;
  • Sign off on agreed specification from a quality perspective and quality SLA for end product/service where applicable;
  • Support/prepare the collection and consolidation of data for quality KPI’s to monitor the capability and performance of suppliers;
  • Prepare the data for supplier / TPM Performance management reviews;
  • Work with each business to identify and tracks quality issues: addresses non-conformances with third parties through Tirlán RCA equivalent process;
  • Participate in strategic initiatives to improve compliance to regulatory requirements and standards;
  • Escalate issues to management that involve food safety, warranty risk, liability & or cost. Prioritize actions based on risks, faults & impact;
  • Complaint management including the engagement with suppliers/third parties to agree CAPA & close out;
  • Oversight of key third party product manufacture including site visits and product inspection;
  • TPM product release; review batch records and COA; release of product batches;
  • Completion of customer requests as required by the business;
  • Any ad hoc activities as specified by the reporting manager.

 

Key Requirements:

  • Minimum bachelor’s degree in science or related discipline;
  • Extensive experience in food, feed or dairy industries;
  • Demonstrated expertise in GFSI-recognised standards (e.g. BRCGS, FSSC 22000) and retailer requirements
  • Proven track record in supplier quality management and auditing, with a lead auditor qualification an advantage
  • Strong understanding of food safety risk management frameworks and EU regulatory requirements, in relation to both food and feed products;
  • Team player with focus on improvement and a strong drive for results.
