The initial focus will be on enabling projects and will involve close collaboration with our partner. Role Profile

Reporting to the SAP Basis & DBA Specialist, the SAP Basis Senior Administrator will provide hands-on operational support for the organisation’s SAP landscape, ensuring SAP systems are secure, stable, performant and available to meet business needs. The role will support day-to-day SAP Basis activities, incident and problem resolution, change delivery, system monitoring, patching, upgrades, documentation and collaboration with internal teams and managed service providers. The role will also include support for Oracle database environments.

 

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with managed service providers and third-party vendors to support the delivery of incidents, service requests, changes and planned maintenance activities, while providing day-to-day SAP Basis administration and technical support across the organisation’s SAP landscape, including S/4HANA, BW, GRC, IDM, SAP Web Dispatcher, SAP BTP and associated SAP components.
  • Support Oracle database management activities, including monitoring, performance analysis, patching, change control and release management, housekeeping and coordination with database specialists where required for both SAP and non-SAP systems.
  • Monitor SAP system availability, performance, background jobs, interfaces, transports, spool, certificates, RFC connections and system health.
  • Investigate and resolve incidents and service requests, working with application, infrastructure, security and vendor teams as required.
  • Support change, release and maintenance activities, including SAP kernel updates, patching, system refreshes and transport management.
  • Ensure SAP systems are monitored effectively and that operational issues are identified, escalated and resolved in a timely manner.
  • Support SAP Basis activities including client administration, transport management, system copies, system refreshes, profile parameter changes and housekeeping tasks.
  • Assist with SAP security, access control and technical authorisation activities, including certificates, SSO/SNC concepts and connectivity requirements.
  • Support SAP Business Technology Platform services, including awareness of subaccounts, destinations, Cloud Connector, service keys, connectivity and role concepts.
  • Contribute to backup, restore, disaster recovery and high availability processes for SAP systems and related database services.
  • Maintain clear technical documentation, runbooks, support procedures and operational handover materials.
  • Support compliance with change management, incident management, audit, data protection and operational control requirements.

 

 

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or a related discipline, or equivalent relevant experience.
  • 5+ years experience in SAP Basis administration, supporting complex or business-critical SAP landscapes.
  • Strong hands-on experience in SAP system monitoring, troubleshooting, performance analysis and operational support.
  • Experience supporting SAP platforms such as SAP S/4HANA, SAP BW, CPI, SAP NetWeaver or related SAP technologies.
  • Good understanding of SAP architecture, including application servers, database layers, interfaces, RFCs, certificates, connectivity and transport management.
  • 5+ years experience of Oracle database administration including monitoring, backup and recovery awareness, patching, performance checks and database housekeeping.
  • Experience with SAP Business Technology Platform or related SAP cloud services, including connectivity and integration concepts.
  • Working knowledge of S/4HANA database administration including monitoring, backup and recovery awareness, patching, performance checks and database housekeeping would be advantageous
  • Experience working within ITIL-aligned incident, problem, change and release management processes.
  • Familiarity with backup, restore, disaster recovery, high availability and system resilience concepts for SAP environments.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to diagnose issues across SAP, database, operating system, network and integration layers.
  • Excellent communication and documentation skills, with the ability to work effectively with business users, IT teams, managed service providers and vendors.
