We are currently seeking a Financial Accountant to join our Milk Centre of Excellence (Milk CoE) team. This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified finance professional looking to take the next step in their career within a dynamic, collaborative and purpose-driven organisation.
Based at our Abbey Quarter headquarters in Kilkenny, this hybrid role reports to the Senior Finance Manager and plays a key role in ensuring the accurate and timely management of milk supplier payments, financial reporting and team leadership.
The Opportunity
The Milk Centre of Excellence manages all aspects of payments to approximately 4,500 milk suppliers, alongside a range of reporting, invoicing and supplier payment initiatives that are critical to our business.
As Financial Accountant, you will lead the Milk Payments team, ensuring robust financial controls, excellent service to suppliers and stakeholders, and continuous improvement across processes and reporting.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Control & Reporting
- Ensure accurate and timely milk supplier payments on a twice-monthly basis.
- Prepare and maintain balance sheet reconciliations through BlackLine.
- Review, prepare and post journal entries.
- Process intercompany recharge transactions relating to milk usage across business units.
- Support month-end and year-end financial reporting activities.
- Deliver accurate reporting and analysis to support business decision-making.
Audit & Compliance
- Act as the primary point of contact for external auditors during interim and year-end audit processes.
- Ensure all financial controls and processes are compliant with internal policies and external requirements.
- Maintain high levels of data integrity and financial accuracy.
Stakeholder Management
- Build strong relationships with key stakeholders across Finance, Tax, Secretariat, Shared Services, IT and operational business units.
- Provide accurate and timely information to internal and external stakeholders.
- Support management with ad hoc analysis, reporting and business initiatives.
Team Leadership & Continuous Improvement
- Lead, coach and develop the Milk Payments team to ensure high performance and capability growth.
- Review and approve daily, weekly and monthly team outputs.
- Identify opportunities to improve processes, reporting and controls.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives that enhance efficiency, accuracy and service delivery.
What We're Looking For
Qualifications & Experience
- Qualified Professional Accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent).
- Minimum of 2 years' post-qualified experience.
- Previous experience within a finance, accounting or shared services environment.
- Experience leading or mentoring team members is desirable.
Skills & Attributes
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent planning, organisational and prioritisation abilities.
- High attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
- Experience with SAP and BlackLine would be advantageous.
- A proactive mindset with a continuous improvement approach.
