Retail Business Development Manager – East

 

 

Role Profile

In the United States, Tirlán currently sell and market its Truly Grass Fed Butters and Cheeses under its master umbrella brand of “Truly Family Farms”. All of its products are farmed and supplied by its cooperative of small family farmers in Ireland.Given that our Truly Grass Fed retail packaged branded business continues to grow exponentially, Tirlán Services, Inc. are in search of an experienced, passionate, goal driven Retail Business Development Manager to manage and grow our Eastern U.S. supermarket, natural channel business, along with regional distributors.

 

Reporting to the Director of Business Development, this position will work closely with the Chicago IL based team to contribute to retail focused growth strategy. This role will be key in managing existing eastern retail business as well as assisting to expand Truly Grass Fed Butters and Cheeses into new retailers adding volume and market share within the Eastern U.S.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Support customer relationship activities for existing Truly Grass Fed eastern key retail customers such as Wakefern, The Fresh Market, Lowes Foods, Big Y, UNFI East, KeHE East, and MOM’s
  • Pursue, present and add new authorizations to targeted retailers and distributors
  • Work closely with brokers, distributor account managers, and retailer category managers to gain new item authorizations and placements
  • Collaborate and implement strategies with Truly Grass Fed team to grow distribution
  • Create and customize customer presentations leveraging syndicated data sources such as Circana, SPIN’s and Nielson
  • Review, analyse and manage business objectives via internal SAP reporting and Vividly Trade Promotions Management system
  • Work closely with Truly Grass Fed Marketing team to deliver and optimize retailer-focused activities 
  • In collaboration with the sales and finance teams, develop and execute annual plan/budgets at region and key customer level
  • Assist with S&OP forecasting to meet demand needs
  • Prepare and deliver periodic retailer, distributor, and broker business reviews
  • Represent Truly Grass Fed at national and customer tradeshows, including occasional weekends

 

Key Requirements

  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in successfully growing perishable foods within retail channels
  • Minimum 3 years’ knowledge and successful track record working with key retailers and distributors focused on supermarket channel, natural channel and independents within the Eastern U.S.
  • Experience managing brokers to achieve target goals and objectives
  • Butter, Dairy Cheese, and Deli Cheese selling experience is highly beneficial
  • Strong working knowledge and experience of UNFI, KeHE, regional distributors, and wholesalers
  • Experience with a successful track record of developing, implementing and managing promotional trade plans to achieve planned incremental volume, ROI, and budgeted trade spend
  • Experienced working with internal on-line Trade Promotions Management software programs to manage sales, volume and trade spends
  • Start-up attitude with ability to multi-task, and think both strategically and "outside the box"
  • A proven ability to recognize opportunities for business expansion within key customers
  • Ability to create reports and metrics to track results and prepare and deliver executive presentations
  • Results-oriented and KPI-driven
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook and Teams
  • Bachelor of Science Degree preferred
  • Position home office based, requiring up to 40% travel
